Yup, it’s probably the only decent one of the “documentaries” Paris has done about herself. For anyone who hasn’t seen it, you can watch it here. It was filmed in 2006, at the height of Paris’ fame, and premiered on MTV in 2009. It’s pretty interesting and has some good talking heads - Paris’ dear friend and mentor Donald Trump, Page Six’s Richard Johnson, the Village Voice’s Michael Musto, and Camille Paglia. I prefer it to that This is Paris YouTube documentary from last year because it better framed her as the unique cultural phenomenon she was; the YouTube documentary, as well as that bizarre American Meme documentary she appeared in a few years back, were sad for many reasons, the most depressing of which is that she’s so desperate to find a way to connect herself to the current celebrity climate that she feels compelled now to present herself as “the OG influencer,” as she calls it, obsessively surrounding herself with these dead-eyed Instagram product shills barely half her age. Like, c'mon, you were one of the most famous people on the planet at a point in time; your legacy, for better or for worse, extends far beyond a bunch of TikTok teens. Do yourself justice! And properly fit those veneers - they’re terrible.
