did you see kim hanging out with ivanka last night? it reminded me of your post years ago about the kardashians going into politics

Yeah, and it’s funny how after their umpteenth public get-together people’s go-to reaction is still to say “Oh, well Kim must be a Republican then!” as if any of this has to do with politics and they aren’t just lifelong friends who’ve always hung out in the same circles (TMZ’s write-up about the dinner even mentioned the very obvious Paris Hilton connection that I wrote about ages ago). Politics have nothing to do with Kim and Ivanka’s friendship. The business of politics, sure, but neither possesses any sort of core values or beliefs beyond being rich and finding ways to get richer. If you asked Kim how she’d define either party’s platform, she’d probably scratch her head and say Republicans are better for rich people and don’t like abortion. That’s pretty much it.

And saying Kim palling with the Trumps is a sign of some latent political philosophy on her part suggests she’s smart enough to have any sort of political beliefs, and she’s not. She’s dumb, extraordinarily so. Ivanka’s no Mensa candidate either (remember when I used to call her “Paris with a Thesaurus”?) but I think she at least has a vague understanding of how the government works compared to Kim. It’s silly and even harmful to project any sort of deeper thought beyond basic greed to Kim’s motivations since it gives her far more credit than she’s due. It reminds me of all the write-ups back in 2015 and ‘16 when Donald was running, summarizing his various political stances over the years and giving the illusion he’s ever had any sort of political ideology when most of his comments were basic regurgitations of popular lines at the time - i.e. the Iraq War is bad, America needs to stop giving other countries money and focus on itself, etc. - the sort of stuff a person who’s never even picked up a newspaper could surmise. Those articles gave him the false appearance of having actually known or cared about anything in the world beyond saying shit to get on TV so he could be more famous. He was just a stupid Hollywood celebrity, like Kim.

Like I said in my 2020 post, self-interest trumps political lines always. It’s incredibly naive to think someone of Kim’s wealth doesn’t have the same “ideology,” whatever that may be, as Ivanka or Donald or Paris, all because she voted for Obama or did a NOH8 photoshoot. At the end of the day, they’re all playing for the same team and whether they put a D or an R next to their name means nothing, so all the attempts at deciphering Kim’s politics are just silly. None of these people have politics.

And while we’re on the subject, I know I predicted in my posts years ago that either Kim or someone in her family would go into politics themselves, but I’m not sure where things stand now. I don’t follow them, and contrary to popular belief they’re very easy to ignore if you don’t consciously seek them out, so maybe they’ve made some steps I’ve missed out on that fit my theory, but for now I don’t know what the plan is. Maybe politics is still the endgame and they’re confused about how to get there, but right now I think Kim’s just struggling with being an aging socialite. That whole Pete Davidson thing was the cornier equivalent of a wrinkling, over-tanned Palm Beach housewife banging the pool boy. She’s handling the loss of her youth as well as one would expect.
