Where Are They Now: MTV’s Fat Camp

For two summers, MTV cameras followed kids on their journey to lose weight at a fat camp.

In July 2004, casting representatives from MTV paid a visit to Camp Pocono Trails in Pennsylvania, looking for two teens to appear on an episode of the network’s hit reality series Made. Casting director Cecily Pierce said at the time, “We look for a story. The person we select must have a dynamic personality that will captivate our audience, who will want them to excel.” What they came up with, however, was an entire TV documentary dedicated to the camp, which would air in February 2006 as Fat Camp. The special introduced us to five different campers - and all of the drama, romance, and cardio-fueled tears that came with them. The special was such a hit that in December 2007 a follow-up called Return To Fat Camp aired on the network, introducing us to five new campers, in addition to featuring some of the fan favorites from the first special. Let’s take a look back at some of the Fat Camp highlights, shall we?

At the start of Fat Camp, we’re introduced to each camper, their starting weight, & their goal weight for the end of the summer:

In the end, some continued to focus on their weight loss after the summer, while others gained it all back and returned to camp the following year. Let’s take a peek at what our favorite campers have been up to since the cameras stopped rolling!

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Dianne

Dianne was a fan favorite, mostly because she didn’t want to do anything - not even take a shower! Also, she had a knack for making the most amazing faces:

After Fat Camp& Return To Fat Camp, she studied English Literature & Education at University of Southern Mississippi. These days, though, you can find her working as a sales associate at a Mississippi Toys “R” Us. Here are some recent pictures:

Marisa “Mo”

Marisa appeared as a counselor in both Fat Camp& Return To Fat Camp, where she notably had a ’thing’ with Petey - who then told other campers that she’s a “whore” that does cocaine & heroin. Since appearing on Fat Camp, Mo’s continued to focus on weight loss & now works as a coach for the weight loss program Beachbody:

Petey

After appearing on Fat Camp& Return To Fat Camp, Petey attended William Paterson University, where he studied finance. Afterwards he studied marketing at St. Bonaventure University in New York & now he’s the Regional Sales Executive at a background check agency. Here’s a recent picture:

He looked a bit different in the picture, so I dropped him an email asking if he’s the one and only Petey. He wrote back: “Yeah - no thanks man.” So I’ll take that as a yes.

Matt

Matt was a 4th year camper in Fat Camp, and briefly dated Marisa before Summer ‘05 came to an end. He also hated Petey. Since appearing on Fat Camp, Matt’s worked for a metal product manufacturer, and now for a plumbing corporation in Valley Stream, New York. Here’s a recent picture:

Braelyn

Braelyn was the first person to get the boot from Camp Pocono Trails. Within her first few days as a junior counselor, she snuck out with her pal Chelsea to smoke cigarettes & buy junk food. After getting fired for the stunt, she swore she’d never return to camp again.

Since Fat Camp, Braelyn’s studied nursing at a community college in Pennsylvania and landed a job as a psychiatric nurse at a local clinic. Also, she got married & had a kid named Jaysean:

Justin

Justin left Camp Pocono Trails halfway through the summer, mostly because he didn’t feel like doing anything. He was also quite the troublemaker, even putting eyedrops in one of his bunkmate’s water bottles. But it seems his wild ways didn’t calm down after Return To Fat Camp! In 2009, he was busted for grand theft:

And while he refused to reveal his weight on TV, his arrest report did the honors:

Dan

Like Dianne, Dan also had separation anxiety & it was hard for him to leave his parents’ side. In the end, his love of musical theater helped him overcome that anxiety & burn some fat! Since appearing on Return To Fat Camp, he’s returned to Camp Pocono Trails as a counselor, and after high school he began pursuing acting. Here’s a recent picture:

Currently he works as a server at Becco Restaurant in New York City, but if you visit… don’t ask him about his sweat:

Adisa

During her time at Camp Pocono Trails, Adisa started her fair share of drama. Between fighting with other girls over drug rumors, shoving her bunkmates to the ground, and throwing an #exclusive party that nobody showed up to, she definitely left her mark on the camp. Years after appearing on Return To Fat Camp, Adisa left New Jersey to study at NYU, and now she works as a social worker for Harlem United:

Logan

Imagine 2007 Britney in fat camp and you have Logan. Between crying that she “wants to die” because her hair bows were confiscated, getting lice, calling other girls “skanky bitches”, showing campers her “chub rub”, and constantly wearing sunglasses… to the point where her bunkmates thought she was on coke… Logan was basically the heart & soul of Camp Pocono Trails. Since Return To Fat Camp, Logan’s changed up her look quite a bit:

And she has a boyfriend, too:

Nowadays she works at a clothing factory in Ohio and likes Chris Crocker videos on Facebook. Fun Fact: Her old MySpace url was brendonuriesbiglipsxox.

Sam

Sam was noticeably thinner than most of her fellow campers, and her goal weight was pretty close to her starting weight. She also had this weird relationship with some guy she wasn’t even sure she was dating. Unfortunately, my snooping skills failed me and I wasn’t able to dig up anything on her post-Return To Fat Camp. Sam, if you’re reading this, help us out and give us the scoop on what you’ve been up to!
